The New Church
On June 27, 1970 ground was broken and construction began.
The church was formally dedicated October 17, 1971, at a mass celebrated by Archbishop McGucken with blessings sent by Pope Paul VI.
At that time there was no Center, so the Church was also a multi-purpose building with kitchen, where every parish religious, educational and social function was held.
These events required taking down and putting back the folding chairs that served as church seating – a logistical nightmare.
Daily mass was and is still celebrated in the beautiful chapel which at that time also had the confessionals and the only tabernacle.
